Interim RR-TB clinical guidelines error: children’s dosing incorrect

2 Jan 2019 - 11:30

The National Department of Health recently released a document called “Interim Clinical Guidance for the implementation of injectable-free regimens for rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis in adults, adolescents and children”.

Kindly note that Annexure 2(b) for children < 12 years old on page 41 contains incorrect dosages for ethionamide, linezolid and terizidone.

We suggest that you rather use the dosing table in the November 2018 Western Cape guideline called “Clinical guidelines and standard operating procedure for the implementation of the short and long DR-TB regimens for adults, adolescents and children” which you will find in Annexure 3 on page 42.

You can access this document on the Western Cape Government website or you are welcome to contact us and we will gladly assist you.
