Is the Advertising Regulatory Board too lenient?
Times Live reported on an interesting case of a doctor reporting an ad to the Advertising Regulatory Board. They can only rule on whether advertising is misleading or not and this is where SAHPRA comes in.
SAHPRA may take a very different view as to whether a product is making unsubstantiated medicinal claims or not. A good reminder that we, as health professionals, have a duty to report misleading advertising to the correct authorities. See the full article here.
